A Rub For Beef or Venison:
There are several rubs you can buy at the store,
that add great flavor to a good cut of beef, but they are loaded
with sodium. Here is a sample of what you can make on the cheap at
home. First go to the dollar store or grocery outlet and pick up a bunch
of cheap spices. Next pick up a six pack of beer (a 12 pack may be
required if you make it extra spicy and maybe some tums).
Next measure out the following seasonings:
1 tablespoon black pepper.
1 tablespoon ground Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon chili powder (or more if you like it
spicy).
1 teaspoon paprika.
1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper.
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1-2 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 a teaspoon ground cumin (if you want that
southwestern flavor)
Add salt if desired. I think it tastes better
without salt and is healthier.
Mix everything together and massage it into
your steaks. Let sit for about 15 minutes
before cooking.
