Gordy’s Martini (or Martoony):

Besides his famous Manhattans.  My father would also serve up his version of a Martini, which he would sometimes call a Martoony.  He would serve all his drinks in big water glasses filled with ice.  His Martoonys were not dry by any standards, but what they lacked in alcohol content, they made up for in volume.

·        Find a water glass.

·        Fill it with ice cubes.

·        Fill ˝ of the remaining volume with Gin, yes Gordon’s gin was my father’s favorite.  It is made by the same company that makes Tanquerey.

·        Fill the remainder of the glass with dry vermouth.

·        Pour in some olive juice.

·        Add several small olives.  This is what my father called “the salad”.

·        Stir and Enjoy.
